Sasser's Animal Print Classroom Decorations
My mom has a blog called And How Are the Children?, and her newest post is from my classroom! We decided to add these decorations to my safari themed classroom.
Several years ago, she had students create tissue paper decorations for a project. She never threw them away and moved them to her new Gifted and Talented area two years ago. During this past summer (2015), she and her co-teacher decided to switch to a picnic theme.
So, I'm the lucky duck that got these decorations and I am thrilled because they perfectly go with my theme and classroom! It was a quick and easy way to add new elements to my room for the upcoming 2015-2016 school year! The kids are going to love them! You can check them out here: Read More
Create Your Own Themed Classroom Calendar
In order to save money, I decided to create my own classroom calendar. I looked high and low and could not find a Safari themed classroom calendar. So, my mom suggested that we put our heads together and create one.
I used a simple calendar template and ran it through the poster maker at school. Then, I found a zebra patterned stencil and, with a Sharpie, I created the Zebra stripes on the background of the calendar. I used a Word document to print the months and dates in a font that I liked. Next, I found Safari scrapbooking paper and taped the months and dates onto it. The last step was running all of this through my 3M Laminator (such a good purchase!) and cut each component out.
The students really like that the calendar matches the classroom and I love that it is unique!
Class Flag for Track and Field 2015
I had my students each design a class flag. Then we anonymously voted on them. The design that had the most votes became our class flag for Track and Field 2015.
It is on half of a white twin sheet; I saved the other half for another year. My mom, who can draw, came over and helped pencil the design onto the sheet. Then, I cut open a large black trash bag and taped it to the floor. The flag was placed on top of the black sheet, and each student helped with the coloring. We used black Sharpies to trace over the pencil, and then we used Mr. Sketch Scented Markers to fill in the flag with color. The black bag helped to keep the marker from seeping onto the floor.
The kids had a wonderful time marching onto the field for Track and Field Day, to Katy Perry's "Roar," while carrying this beautiful flag. For more information on Track and Field Day, like our great games, click this link: Read More
